At the age of 72, she picked up a camera for the first time. 10 years later, she had her first solo exhibition of her self-portraits.

Kimono Nishimoto is known for her uplifting, funny self-portraits. She is now 91 years old and has been in her career only since the age of 72. It all started when she decided to enrol on her son’s beginner’s course in photography. Realising her passion, she started to take her own self-portraits in hilarious poses that many wouldn’t expect an elderly person to be doing. 

Her humour and energetic character for a woman of her age quickly won her many followers and she has now become Insta-famous. She has also written a book and has started to do her own solo exhibitions.
